Our beloved dark wave duchess Abra has enchanted us with yet another space-like single.

She has a way of creating music that makes one feel as though they’re visiting another dimension. I had the pleasure of experiencing this feeling in early September when she graced the stage at Barboza for a Red Bull Sound Select show here in Seattle.

Although her latest is called “Play,” she slyly lets us know that’s exactly what she’s NOT about to do.

“Now it’s coming clear, you see.
I know you love games & you not ’bout to play me.”

The Awful Records songstress is joined by Brooklyn-based Stickz Greenz (who recently dropped a groovy mixed-genre EP entitled Hood Weirdoon this track. The two get their point across pretty politely, letting a past…acquaintance (?) know that they’re not for the games. We can relate. You probably can too.

Grammy Nominated producer J. Rob skillfully laid down the sounds here, which are so fitting for the duchess, we definitely need to hear more collaborations from the duo in the future.

Press play below and enjoy.
Happy Hump Day from Doppler.
